What is the Windows Media Center?

Definition: The Windows Media Center is an application that provides many media-related functions. With Windows Media Center, you can connect your computer and TV. Some of the media-related functions of Windows Media Center are:
  • use your computer like a DVR to record TV
  • play movies downloaded to your computer on your TV
  • view photos on your TV
  • play music saved on your computer through your home theater system
Windows Media Center is only available in Windows XP Media Center Edition, Windows Vista Home Premium, and Windows Vista Ultimate. If you don't have Windows Media Center, an alternative media center application like SageTV might meet your needs.
